Michael P. Cummins BSc DPodM MChS

I’m passionate about everything footcare and set up Cummins Podiatry to allow me to shape every aspect of our patients’ treatment.

I qualified from Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh, in 1989, with a diploma in Podiatric Medicine. I then achieved a Degree in Podiatric Medicine through the University of Westminster in 1993. When I first qualified I worked at South Tyneside Health Authority, specialising in nail surgery, biomechanics and the manufacture of insoles & orthoses. I also specialise in nail surgery and cryosurgery.

In 1993, I was headhunted to work at the Newcastle Sports Injuries Clinic, where I worked closely with the Physiotherapists in the field of biomechanics of sports injuries. I consulted for the army at the Infantry, Training, Battalion, and then the Infantry Training centre Catterick from 1993 – 2000 working as part of the rehabilitation team formulating strategies and treatments for injury prevention & rehabilitation.

I started in private practice from being first qualified and have worked at various venues throughout the North-East including from what is now Newcastle Falcons rugby ground, the Nuffield Hospital, The Old Pit Practice in Pity Me, Durham and the Spire Hospital, Washington.

I remain committed to bringing together the very best people and services in our Crawcrook clinic and look forward to meeting you soon.

Dawn Butcher BSc (Hons) MChS

Hi, I’m Dawn. I qualified from Durham school of Podiatry in 2007 and have supported Mike in his business since then in my regular Monday surgery.

Always happy to see a new face and share a chat.

John Clarkson BSc (Hons) MCPod

Hello my name is John. I originally came to Cummins Podiatry as a sixth form student on work experience.  I thoroughly enjoyed my time and found the work to be very interesting and rewarding in terms of being able to provide help and care to people with podiatric problems.

In 2020 I completed a three year honours degree in podiatric medicine at Durham School of Podiatry.

I feel very fortunate to have been able to work with Mike who is very highly regarded in his profession and who is a tremendous mentor. I appreciate being part of being a well-established practice.

I am the face of our Home visits service therefore generally out and about on a Monday, spending the other four days at the upstairs clinic in Crawcrook.

In my spare time my main interest are concerned with health and fitness. I enjoy going to the gym and playing golf and rugby.
